Mutants, birds, and mobsters- what a packed episode we have for you this week.  First, Superman takes on an army of teenage mutants, bent on taking over the world, and Perry White becomes a master of disguise to help the Man of Steel stop the mastermind behind it all.  Then- What is a Moa? Where did it come from, and why is it able to fart feathers at Superman? Find out in the first of three stories, which also include The Atom, and The Human target.

Episode 41 -- June 1973

Step right up folk and check out Episode 41 of Superman in the Bronze Age.  In this extra-length episode we are joined by a little known podcaster named Michael Bailey.  He took a break from From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast, Bailey's Batman Podcast, Views From the Longbox, Tales of the JSA, Comics Monthly Monday, the Spider-Man Crawlspace Podcast and Superman Homepage's Radio KAL Live, and possibly others that I have forgotten.  Michael joins the guys because this episode marks the debut of his most favorite supporting character from the  bronze age.  Plus, we learn about Prince Adam's adventure on Krypton, Gorilla Grodd kills Superman, and Green Arrow enjoys some fudge.  There's also ads, Elsewhere in the DC Multiverse, and possibly a few tangents.

Wow!  40 episodes.  And what do David and Charlie do to celebrate?  Absolutely nothing, because 40 is not a "cool" anniversary.  Instead, the guys review 1 good story and 3 not-so-good stories.  In this episode, Superman takes on a director(?), Clark has an unhappy birthday on a day that isn't really his birthday, we learn Lex Luthor's fatal weakness, and Christopher Chance faces his father's killer.  Plus, we have a few tangents, we make fun of ads, we find out what else was happening in the DC Multiverse this month and we announce next episodes special guest-star!

Episode 38 -- Christmas Special #2

Ah!  The holiday season!  Chestnuts roasting, family gathering, sugarplums dancing, gift giving, Jack Frost nipping and podcast listening.  And like last year, we take a break from the ordinary to bring you a special episode full of holiday cheer!  The year is 2979, and Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes go out in search of that special star from the first Christmas but find a different aspect of Christmas instead (how's that for being vague?).  So sit back, relax and enjoy another Christmas in the Bronze Age.

Episode 34 -- November 1972

Made it to 34 episodes, and still going strong!  This episode, Charlie welcomes J David Weter from PADSMASH!, Green Lantern's Light and Dave's Amazing World of Superman, as the new, permanent co-host for the show.  And the guys waste no time getting into the thick of things, although tangents do slow them down a bit.  In this episode, a powerful enemy returns to take on Superman, Leo Dorfman says goodbye to Superman by telling a story that the guys take many issues with, and Metamorpho says goodbye after the Death of Simon Stagg?!?  Plus, ads and Elsewhere in the DC Multiverse.

According to my watch, it's time for another thrilling episode of Superman in the Bronze Age.  This time, we have a somewhat controversial ending to the Morgan Edge Clone Saga (no hoodies here, just hoods), Superman fights a Transformers more than a decade before they were cool, then puts a bunch of people in danger.  Next, he scares a crippled girl enough that she is able to walk and, in the Action backup, Metamorpho does his part for world peace.  Plus, ads and Elsewhere in the DC Multiverse.

Back to the Bins Presents: Superman!

Disenfranchised by the modern incarnation of his all-time favorite comic book hero, podcaster Scott Gardner of Two True Freaks now plies the time-stream in a never-ending quest to re-discover and re-connect with that unique brand of fun and excitement that can only truly be found in good ol' fashioned randomly-selected Superman back issues!!  Journey with him now... back... Back To The Bins!!


This is not Scott's first episode of Back to the Bins, but it is the first episode of this new version of the show.  Beginning with this episode, Scott is taking a look at classic Superman comics.  Now, I'm posting this because the first story he is looking at is a Bronze Age retelling of the Origin of Superman from "The Amazing World of Superman" which was specially created for one of the first Superman celebrations in Metropolis, IL.  I won't be getting to this story for several episodes, but I wanted to point everyone to what I'm sure will prove to be a different take on this classic story.  Also, be sure to check out future episodes for more Superman goodness.  I also encourage you to check out the other great shows featuring the Two True Freaks brand.

The Thrilling Adventures of Superman Episode 39

The latest episode (Episode 39) of The Thrilling Adventures of Superman has been released by Michael Bradley, and this episode guest stars me!  It’s an episode that’s been a long time coming, folks. This episode, Michael and I take a look at the first six episodes of the Superman radio show! We begin with the destruction of Krypton and follow Superman all the way through his first adventure on Earth! It’s a great set of episodes and a great conversation worthy of Superman’s first steps off of the printed page. Plus: This episode, Michael makes a big announcement concerning the future of the podcast!
